Fundraising: Fresh Fruit

We recently spoke with Paula Nichols, director of the Los Alamos High School Choirs. They are currently taking orders for fresh Florida citrus fruit. This is a fundraiser to benefit the choir program and to help the students pay for their Spring Choir Festival.
According to Paula, the school has been doing this fundraiser for over 10 years. It has gotten to the point where it pretty much sells itself. Depending on how ambitious the kids are they have raised anywhere between $3000 to $10,000, per season. They plan to have their fruit delivered around the 2nd week of December, which often coincides with their Christmas show. People in the community expect this and many of them have standing orders. They use Langdon Barber Grove in Florida near the Indian River Area. Here’s a listing of other fruit shippers that may be in your area, just in case you think this fundraiser is for you.
