Fundraising: Fasting

The Charlotte Observer reports that the First Foursquare Gospel Church… [in] Belmont, will host a 30-Hour Famine on March 17-18 to raise awareness of world hunger and raise money to help feed the hungry.
Members of Belmont Youth Fellowship, a group of young people from Ebenezer United Methodist, First Foursquare Gospel, First United Methodist, Queen of the Apostles Catholic and South Point Baptist churches, will go without food for 30 hours to experience firsthand what hunger feels like.
The fast is part of a national event sponsored by World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
As part of the fast, pledges and donations are collected. This kind of fundraiser may be appropriate for religious based musical groups who are incorporating charity work into their musical touring.
