The Sacramento Choral Society Tours China

The Sacramento Choral Society recently returned from a very successful tour to the People’s Republic of China. To learn more about their experience and read reports from participants, visit Prosper Magazine’s Business Blog.

The following was written by James McCormick, President of the Sacramento Choral Society:

The SCSO’s Summer 2006 China Tour was indeed an amazing adventure for all 220 participants on so many levels.

We were thrilled with our performance venues in Beijing, Tianjin, Xi’an and Jinan, our Sister City. AND the acoustics on the Great Wall actually made that unique performance a spiritual experience.

The warm reception at our concerts was mirrored by the warmth of the gracious Chinese people in all other aspects of our tour. We were struck by the sense of “real-time” community the Chinese enjoy. This was made very evident in Beijing’s “Temple of Heaven” where people meet, play, sing and dance daily.

We were moved by the enthusiastic welcome that our friends in our sister city of Jinan showed us. We were indeed proud cultural ambassadors throughout the tour, especially in Jinan.

Sincere congratulations and thanks to the 220-member SCSO contingency that was the toast of China in July 2006.
