Seven New Wonders Of The World Are Announced

It’s claimed that over 100 million people worldwide voted online to select the Seven New Wonders of the World. As opposed to the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World - all of which but one are remaining, the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. The online poll was designed and carried out by the non-profit New Open World Corporation
Egypt relies heavily on its status as the owners of the last remaining wonder, as they rake in millions each year through tourism for those seeking to see the last of the ancient seven wonders. So, why not cash in on some new ones? And, what a marketing gimmick it was- making the vote for the new seven wonders final on 7/7/07.
India’s Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Jordan’s Petra, Brazil’s statue of Christ Redeemer, Peru’s Machu Picchu, Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid and the Colosseum in Rome have now replaced the original wonders.
The Great Pyramid of Giza was assured of retaining its status in addition to the new seven wonders after Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete. In other words, they wanted to make sure those millions continued to roll in. You can bet there’ll be new visitors (and new tourism dollars) coming soon to the sites of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
